Circling electronic elements and vocal flourishes build into a steady batida-influenced rhythm in Lisbon-born, France-based producer Vanyfox and Montreal vocalist-poet Commeungrand’s Dragunov. Among the Portuguese producers, such as batida originator DJ Mpula, for mixing traditional Angolan music with modern electronic beats, up-and-comer Vanyfox is as inspired by Kuduro, Afro-house and Tarraxo-Kizomba as he is by the sound of Lisbon's ghettos. Currently creating his own sound world one wild loop at a time, he’s been featured on Rinse France, NTS radio and Branko’s album Enchufada Na Zona Vol.2. Commeungrand, AKA Kessie Theliar Charles, is a Moonshine collective member and multidisciplinary artist known both for her art and set design work and her lyrical musical collaborations in Haitian creole.
